Cleaning up my desktop and found this folder of skate flicks from back in the day. My shred posse was all from Fed Way. We had so many good times skating half pipe in the back of Dave and Keith Bloomfields house behind Lake Dolloff Elementary. Our Skate days consisted of shop lifting the local Circle K, riding the old Payless stairs on Pac Hgwy and also shoplifting the Standard Brands Paint spot for markers. There were so many ramps around at the time and the brotherhood was in full effect. Since I was the youngest I was razzed constantly and my jerk name was Jerr. Unfortunately I am not in any of these photos but still trying to track down some of my own.

God I miss those days. All these photos are prolly circa 1989. I think I was 9 and in 2nd grade.

Thanks to Dave and Keith Bloomfield again for the flicks.

Sport’s Soup! Ahh..restless is the man with no outlet for his tomfoolery. It is that time of year. We are still weeks away from the NFL playoffs, the winter meetings are going on in baseball, college basketball is still in its infantsy, college football has yet to crown a champion and the NBA is not even to the all-star break. It’s like there is a pound of cake but no ice cream. For a devoted sports fan such as me…I go to espn.com and twitter every hour to see if there is even a twinge of new info to give my sports loins something to dance about. So I guess much in the same style as my first column, here comes a ruthesque breakdown…put that in your pipe and smoke it cheech.

NFL: Reason for the ice gorilla to rejoice. The Broncos have fired McDaniels..The same moron that drafted Tim Tebow way to high and looked lost on the sidelines. I think the thing we learned about McDaniels is that he was good at looking lost in most basic coaching decisions and following up leather face with a high school kid was a blunder on Pat Bowlens part. The Seahawks sit at 6-6 tied for the lead in the ultra competitive and arguably best division in football and knock on wood may be in the playoffs this year! The rest of the NFL is surprisingly boring and has been lackluster. It makes me think maybe the league is fixed and the figured Tom Brady hasn’t won a ring recently enough. Who would have thought there was any weight to the fact that Vince McMahon was calling the shots. My highlights this season involve the rapist getting what he deserves with a nice shove to the face by Richard Seymour (Somewhere a barely alive Al Davis raised a finger in celebration) and two games later getting a broken nose! I swear if I hear James Harrison bitch one more time about being fined I am going to pray nightly to the football gods that he get a serious career ending injury.

MLB: The winter meetings..such a disappointing time for mariner fans. As we watch other teams go out and make great moves we sit back and sign player’s that will end up hitting 200. I thought the new management was going to be different but by the signing of Jack Cust and resigning of Miguel Olivio (who hit 200 with the mariners his first time around). We did have King Felix win the Cy Young and we do have young promising players. I am forever an optimist, even to a fault and hope that I get proven wrong and the mariners win 45 straight World Series but after the dismal year last year I have trouble getting motivated by Busch league moves and feel certain that we are in for another long one boys.

College Bball: I am going to start out by saying I am as big Gonzaga fan. I live a breathe GU hoops and it hurts to concede that the UW huskies and Cougars of WSU are the teams to beat on the west coast this year. I truly believe my bulldogs can turn it around but the way WSU and UW are playing I concede that until proven wrong we are number 3 in the state.

College Football: We have a title showdown between undefeated Oregon and Auburn. It is the game that needs to happen and I am really excited for it. Oregon run what is called the blur offense and Auburn has possibly a once in a lifetime player in Cam Newton and I expect a fun and surprisingly dramatic championship game. UW will also be going to their first bowl game it what seems like a hundred years but they got paired with Nebraska who beat them handedly in Seattle earlier in the year and they have Jake(I am overrated and don’t deserve nearly the praise I get)Locker at quarterback. So sorry UW fans I don’t expect a different outcome this time around and I will hold back the I-told-you-so tweets after every Jake Locker pass that sails 10 yards over his receivers head.

NBA: The talk has heated up about the Sonics get resurrected in Seattle with the NBA purchasing the hornets from their owner last week. I hope it happens because it means we may also get the NHL and have arguably the best pg in the league in Chris Paul calling Seattle home. As for the rest of the NBA I could give two shits. David Stern is the antichrist and I have trouble rooting for that league but I feel it’s my duty to reiterate the title will go through L.A. and don’t call me the messiah when Kobe wins again. In a league of cry babies (LeBron I see you) Kobe outworks everyone and that is what is going to propel a loaded Lakers squad to a three peat.

So in closing still need to watch more hockey. When I check in again we will have a much clearer picture of what is happening in the world of sports and hopefully a couple of my wishes will come true. Fingers crossed and three fingers in the sky. Sport’s Soup out!
